We have now finished our Spring 2016 induction Course, and are pleased to say that both Steve and John have successfully completed the Course.

Even better news, they have both joined the club, and are now getting the hang of shooting their new bows. We'd like to warmly welcome them to the club, and hope they enjoy shooting with us!

    Steve                              John

During the course we also gave some coaching to 2 other new members, Susanne and Paul, who used to shoot, but had a few years out, and we are pleased to have been able to help them get back into the sport.

After the success of this course we are looking forward to running our next course over the summer, and would like to encourage club members to share information about this around to friends and family, as we'd love to get more people involved in archery!

    Happy shooting

    David and Daniel

    Wow, what a day!

First off a big thank you goes out to all members for attending and working extremely hard all day.

We did start the day a little worried as we experienced not just rain but at one stage hail, which is a first for this weekend, but tucking into one of Nicola’s legendary cooked breakfasts got us all ready and raring to go.

The weather did keep a lot of people away at the early part of the day giving us a mix of rain and strong wind plus we tended to go from warm to chilly in seconds and then back again so there was a constant feeling of jackets being put on then taken off. By late morning the skies were clear, even the wind calmed down and crowds began to appear and we in turn got busier, much busier!

I think we had more juniors shoot then ever before and enjoyed several families all joining in. A number of people took cards and contact information and we even had some leave their email address for me to contact them with more information. It was a highly enjoyable day with a lot of laughing and smiles from everyone along with cheers and high fives when little ones got golds.

The new targets worked very well they looked great lined up and so much easier to transport around.

All in all a very successful day, so again a massive thank you to everyone.

    Andy

Norfolk is now host to an Archery Training Centre, one of only 7 currently in the UK!

As a club, we are excited that this opens up more opportunities for our members to receive coaching within the county, and it was great to see a good number of club members at the Launch event on Sunday.

The Training Centre is open for archers to book on to sessions, which will be held every two weeks, alternating between Saturdays and Sundays. The next session being the 2nd April, and booking details for archers can be found on the attached flyer.

The final development day on the 17th April was due to be held with us, but due to racing we are unable to use the racecourse, so the session has been moved to Norfolk Bowmen - I'm sure we'll be able to help out with the centre later in the year though.

The purpose of these centres is to identify and develop Archers using experienced GB Coaches, creating an excellent support network and allowing archers to achieve their full potential. This programme offers archers from all backgrounds, the chance to experience elite coaching and what it takes to become an elite Archer.

The Archery Training Centre incorporates international coaching techniques passed on from the Olympic Pathway Team and Strength and Conditioning sessions designed specifically for junior Archers. Each centre will deliver performance analysis sessions using state of the art slow motion camera systems to analyse the bio-mechanics of each Archer's technique, allowing for an individualised and detailed assessment of every Archer.

The Archery Training Centres are open to Archery GB members, and will act as a hub of information aimed at helping to develop archers as well as Coaches that are interested in feeding the information they learn back into their clubs.

If you are interested in improving your technique or just want to see what all the hype is about then get in touch with Chris Latimer, County Coaching Organiser, and head on down to the next event. For those interested in Coaching this is also a great opportunity to observe some of the Counties best coaches and pick up some tricks of the trade.
